Tame a Grizzly With A Series of Scribbles

If you live in Alaska, you live near bears. It’s a fact of life.

Honestly though, in all my decades of living there, I’ve rarely seen them in the wild, but I have smelled them while on hikes. Believe me, you want to draw FAST if you come across a grizzly to sketch.

Scribbling is the perfect answer. Using a few crayons and some brown paper (a grocery sack is ideal), you can rapidly make this bear appear without worrying about “getting it right”. We use the dark shadow shapes to make him appear, skipping details that might trip us up. Some aqua and violet give off the feeling of sunlight on brown fur.

The whole project is fun, fast, easy, and doesn’t require expert drawing skills.
