No Straight Lines Needed—Use Quick, Loose Strokes To Make The Scene

In the depth of winter, the sun barely clears the rooftops in Anchorage, Alaska. Using quick, broken strokes I’ll show you how to paint a wintery scene with lots of color and no straight lines.

Supply List:
  • Sanded pastel paper; I used 9″ x 12″ UArt 400 sanded paper

  • A variety of soft pastels, more or less in these colors:

  • Whites: Titanium white, plus whites with a pink, lilac, peach and yellow tint

  • Brights: sunset orange, deep yellow, cobalt blue, purple, deep green

  • Darks: black, navy, eggplant (purple), brown, & rust
